El Higüero
IATA: JBQ – ICAO: MDJB
This terminal was opened in February 2006 to replace Herrera International Airport. The majority of operations at La Isabela are general aviation flights; however, commuter airlines also operate from the airport offering domestic and regional flights.
The airport has the largest number of hangars in the country (over 10) for Dominican based carriers. The terminal building has 5,425 square meters on two levels.
The control tower is 36 meters high, with a modern system of aviation safety with approach lights and runway, VHF communication, and a unique electrical system with modular sub-station and transfer to emergency power provided exclusively for the tower control and runway lights.
